Have you ever read out loud to someone? Have they ever read out loud to you? Any book recommendations to read to someone?
Yeah, I absolutely love reading to people. I like being read to, too, but it doesn’t happen as often, unfortunately. I think pretty much anything you enjoy could be a good option for reading to someone- I’ve read American Gods, Dance With Dragons, Peter Pan… Just make it something you enjoy and want to share with someone.
“I happen to love - and I know a lot of people don’t - but I happen to love the works of William Shakespeare, the poet and playwright. I think that they are amongst the greatest things that humanity has ever done. Up there with the Pyramids, or whatever it is that you want to choose. But the number of times you hear people say, “Oh, it was ruined for me at school.” And I— I tend to say to them, “Yeah, I don’t really like the Grand Canyon, or the Lake District, or the mountains of Scotland, because I had a really bad geography teacher, so I don’t find them very beautiful”.”—What I Wish I’d Known When I Was 18 (via fuckyeahstephenfry)
Pretty much my reaction exactly. That was the moment that had me choked up, not the ending. And no departure will ever hurt as much as Donna’s. I’m still angry about that.
The more and more I think about it, the episode had some beautiful moments to it- including the most realistic glimpse at what a marriage between River and the Doctor must be like- but the whole wasn’t what I’d hoped.
I am the worst when it comes to presents. I basically have two states:
1. Uh, I want to buy them something. I should get… Stuff? People like stuff, right? I could get… That one thing… They’d like… Shit, I’m bad at this.
2. I want to get them this! Yes! That’s perfect! Oh god why can’t I just give it to them right now? I don’t care if it isn’t their birthday yet/I still have to wrap it/I haven’t ordered it off Amazon yet, why can’t they be opening it right now?
